Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Byzantine Technologies LLC ("we," "us," "Byzantine," or "Vitals") collects when you visit this website, join our email list, download the free Lite workbook, or purchase a paid edition — and how we use and protect it.
Your use of Vitals is also governed by our Terms of Service.
The short version: We collect your email address so we can send you the workbook and occasional product updates. We do not sell your data. We never store the actual Excel workbooks you use on our servers, and the workbooks contain no tracking. You can unsubscribe at any time.
1. Who we are
This website and the Vitals Meal & Macro System are operated by Byzantine Technologies LLC, based in Fairhope, Alabama, USA. For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@fairhope.io.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Email address. When you download the free Lite workbook or join a launch list, you provide your email address.
- Your interest selection. If you join a launch list, we record which edition you're interested in (Pro or Coach) so we can notify you appropriately.
- Consent. We record that you agreed to receive email from us, and the version of this policy in effect at the time.
Information collected automatically
- Marketing attribution. If you arrive from a link with campaign tags (for example,
utm_source,utm_campaign,utm_medium), we store those tags with your subscription so we understand which channels work. - Spam protection. Our sign-up forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to block automated abuse. Turnstile processes limited technical signals from your browser to confirm you're human; it does not track you across sites.
- Event logs. When you sign up or download, we record a privacy-preserving event in our storage. We do not store your plaintext email address in these logs. For operational logging, we store a one-way keyed HMAC-SHA256 hash of the normalized email address, plus a timestamp, source, consent version, and attribution data. This lets us match events for reliability and abuse prevention without storing the email itself in the log. The hash is not intended to identify you without our private log-hashing key.
3. How we use your information
- To deliver the free Lite workbook and any paid editions you request.
- To send you product updates, launch announcements, and the email series you opted into.
- To understand which marketing channels bring people to Vitals, in aggregate.
- To protect our forms and services from spam and abuse.
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Email list and service providers
Our email list is hosted by MailerLite, our email service provider (ESP). When you subscribe, your email address, interest tags, and marketing attribution are stored in MailerLite so we can send you email. MailerLite processes this data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms. You can review the MailerLite Privacy Policy.
Our website and forms run on Cloudflare infrastructure (Workers and R2 storage), which processes requests and hosts our privacy-preserving event logs. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
5. Payments and purchases
We do not process or store your full payment card details ourselves. When you buy a paid edition, your payment is handled by one of the following payment processors, depending on where you complete your purchase. Each processor collects and processes your payment and billing information under its own privacy policy:
| Processor | When it applies | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Gumroad | Purchases made through our Gumroad storefront. | Gumroad Privacy Policy |
| Etsy | Purchases made through our Etsy shop listing. | Etsy Privacy Policy |
| Stripe | Direct purchases processed on or through our own site via the Stripe API, if and when direct checkout is enabled. | Stripe Privacy Policy |
These processors may share limited order information back to us (such as your email and the product purchased) so we can deliver your files and provide support. We use that information only to fulfill and support your order.
6. The Excel workbooks
The Vitals workbooks run entirely on your own computer in Microsoft Excel. We take privacy in the product itself seriously:
- The workbooks contain no hidden macros, no external workbook connections, no tracking pixels, and no "phone-home" behavior. Nothing in the file sends your data back to us when you use it.
- The data you enter into a workbook — your meals, macros, weight, goals — stays in your file on your device. We never see it and never receive it.
- We do not host the contents of your workbooks on our servers. The only files stored in our private storage are the original master workbooks we distribute (the free Lite download and paid editions), which are not publicly listed or shared.
7. Cookies and local storage
This site uses minimal browser storage for essential functionality — for example, remembering your light/dark theme preference and supporting spam protection on our forms. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
8. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising. We share information only:
- With the service providers and payment processors named above, who process it on our behalf to operate Vitals.
- When required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
- In connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), subject to this policy.
9. Data retention
We keep your email subscription data for as long as you remain subscribed or until you ask us to delete it. Privacy-preserving event logs (which contain only one-way keyed hashes of email values, never plaintext) are retained for operational and security purposes. Purchase records are retained as needed for tax, accounting, and support obligations.
10. Your choices and rights
Unsubscribe
Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking it removes you from our mailing list immediately. You can also email support@fairhope.io and we'll remove you.
Access, correction, and deletion
You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@fairhope.io and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Regional rights (EEA/UK/California and others)
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and (for California residents) the right to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, contact support@fairhope.io.

Vitals is an educational meal-planning and macro-tracking tool. It does not provide medical or nutritional advice, and we do not collect or store health data on your behalf. Consult a qualified professional before making dietary changes.
13. International users
We operate from the United States. If you access Vitals from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your own.
14. Liability and indemnification
Your use of Vitals is governed by our Terms of Service, including the limitation-of-liability and indemnification provisions described there. Those provisions apply to your use of this website, the Vitals workbooks, and any Vitals product or service.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated by email or a notice on this site.
